Our internships and training programmes consist of shadow learning and hands on training with individual attention under the guidance of experts in the field. An independent research and training experience can be gained upon completion.
These internships are beneficial for undergraduates and graduates who are looking to pursue careers in microbiology and biotechnology.
Areas of Research:
The training programme on microbial techniques covers the key areas of isolation, culturing and microscopy. The participants also gain experience on general laboratory practices involved in a typical microbiology laboratory setting.
Preparation of standard microbial media and introduction to instrumentation
Serial dilution and spread plate – Soil microbial isolation and air exposure
Colony characterization, Microscopy and Staining
Streak plate, pour plate and stab inoculation
Starch hydrolysis, gelatinase, catalase test and antibiotic susceptibility testing against natural extracts and standards.
Results analysis and completion – short student presentation on course outcome
The training programme provides hands on experience in handling the UV/Visible Spectrophotometer, which is an essential technique in any biochemistry related research setting.
Hands on training on usage of spectrophotometer and MetaSpec Pro Analysis Software usage for standard curve preparation
Estimation of unknown compound, analysis and interpretation of results
